I like to know what I’m going to be doing.
Which is why I’ve been experiencing withdraws since I turned in my last assignment for the spring semester. Summer is here, officially today and I feel the need to compose a “to do” list for the coming months.
I asked a friend what should be first on my list of goal for the summer.
Their response: relax.
Yeahhhh, I’m not so sure about that.None-the-less, here’s a few goals I’ve set for my last college summer break.
1. Relax
2. Read four books this summer.
3. Watch one new movie a week.
4. Learn something new everyday.
5. Complete essays for Teach for America application.
What are somethings you’d like to accomplish this summer?

I wonder
I wonder if there’s ever a time when I need to bribe.. I mean extrinsically motivate my students to behave, read, come to school every day, if I dying my hair any color they want would work. They would have to work really hard for it… like fill an entire jar with pennies or something.
No, blue and green is not out of the question.

This is a speech given by Jonathan Kozol July 30, 2011 at the Save our Schools March in Washington, DC.
This is a video that I created featuring a speech by Jonathan Kozol. He’s spent many years working in underprivileged schools in America and has written several books about his experiences as a teacher, fighting againist apartheid in the education system. This clip doesn’t focus on isses of race but on an issue that is currently debated among educators and policy makers from state to state; standardized testing.
Nothing motivates me more than someone saying it like it is. I hope you enjoy. -
Procrastination: Social Studies Methods
I have an assignment to complete for my social studies methods class to turn in tomorrow. I don’t know why we were asked to do it and I barely understand what I’m supposed to do. Write three pages about the standards of different states? I’m definitely wishing writing was one of those talents I had right about now.

Merica!
Him:I want a venti mocha... what does venti mean in spanish anyways?Me:I think it's Italian....Him:Well why am I ordering my drink in Italian when we live in America?Me:There are many different languages spoken in America, sir.Him:Yea, because they're to lazy to learn English... If you went to Italy and spoke English, not many Italians would be happy with you.Me:-_-Posted on February 17, 2012 via nope with 1 note ()

in case you didn’t read it the first time
You know when you’re reading a textbook and you suddenly realize that they made the exact same point four times already?
Yep.
I get it… school museum projects challenge teachers to grow professionally, provide opportunities for parents to be involved, it’s an authentic task, and students learn how to collaborate with their classmates. Can we move along?NW
